L is for Love – Let some in your Life today

Let some love into your life today.  Allow something to make you smile, make you happy.  Look at a bird or a butterfly.  Pet a kitten or throw a ball to a dog.  It doesn’t take much to let some love in.

Be grateful for a flower.  Dream upon a cloud.  Thank the sun for shining or the rain for raining (or even the snow for falling so early in the year).

Today is my birthday and on these special days, we stop to think about the people and the love in our lives.  We have so many “friends” on Facebook, and we tweet in fewer words than ever before – but how many times do we actually think about all the love in our lives? And thank you, my friends on Facebook for saying happy birthday – lots of love!  And thank you, my friends from around the world who have made up my life over all these many years – I love you all!

Thank you all for being in my life.  Thank you for sharing my love for natural health and natural beauty.  Thank you WordPress for making this blog possible.

Today, on my own personal love day, I vow to be grateful for even the smallest thing.  When you are in a state of constantly being grateful, your soul dances with ever-increasing joy. You then practice the attitude of looking for the positive in all your situations, and become open for even more great things to come into your life.

Thank you for reading my love letter to you!  Let some love into your life today and you will be rewarded with the most beautiful day full of natural health and natural beauty!

K is for Kindness – It Kan’t Kill U

Kindness is good for your Natural Health

It’s time to say “thank you” or “I appreciate you” or “thanks for doing a good job.”  You can’t kill someone with kindness.  Maybe you can kill someone when you’re not kind.   Saying “please” and “thank you,” waiting your turn, lending a helping hand, or cheering someone up with a smile – these simple things might not seem like a big deal, but when someone you know (or don’t know!) is feeling down and out, these little things could make all the difference in the world.

Think about how many times you may have been hurt by someone not doing something — the telephone call (or even an email) that didn’t come when you were feeling low, the thank you note or the “thank you” that you never got, the missed lunch or dinner date — and then think about  how many times you have neglected to act in similar circumstances.   “Kindness is very susceptible to the sin of omission.” (http://www.spiritualityandpractice.com)

Give freely without expecting anything in return. Just do it.  Ask yourself – Am I giving enough? Are my eyes open? How do I say thank you? Can I make a difference in the lives of others?

The Buddha taught lay people the virtue of making the “seven offerings that cost nothing”: . . . a compassionate eye, a smiling face, loving words, physical service, a warm heart, a seat, and lodging.

Today – Be Kind. Think of others. Thank the world.  It’s good for everyone’s Natural Health.

K is for King Kale – Kool thing to KooK

Kale for Natural Health

I thought I liked kale a lot, but in doing today’s research for this blog, I came across someone who’s got me beet (oops, I meant beat!).  Cause the other thing I really like are beets!

There’s this woman, Diana Dyer, and it appears her life is KALE!  She writes a blog called 365 Days of Kale – http://www.365daysofkale.com/ – You gotta love a gal like that!

Kale is so full of natural health, it’s one of the best things you can add to your diet. Kale is a powerhouse of  vitamins and contains huge amounts of calcium, lots of vitamin B6.  One cup of this tasty vegetable can give you almost 180% of your daily requirement of Vitamin A, 200% of the requirement of Vitamin C, 40% of the magnesium, and an unbelieveable  1020% of your daily requirement of Vitamin K, necessary for blood clotting (or Klotting this weeK!).

To make a really easy side dish using this fabulous green just saute some up with a little red vinegar.

SAUTEED KALE

INGREDIENTS:

1-1/2 pounds kale, preferably the young fresh kind, coarsely chopped

3 TBL. Extra virgin olive oil

2 cloves garlic, finely sliced

½ C. vegetable or chicken stock ((or water)

Salt & pepper to taste

Splash of red wine vinegar

PREPARATION:

Heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat.  Add the garlic and heat until soft, but not burnt.  Add the stock and kale and toss to coat, heating over high heat.  Cover and cook for 5 minutes until the liquid has evaporated.  Season with salt & pepper to taste, and add a splash of the red wine vinegar.

Kwan Yin – Goddess of Kompassion & Mercy – Protector of Naturally Beautiful Women

Kwan Yin - Protector of Naturally Beautiful Women

Kwan Yin (Quan Yin, Guanyin) – goddess of compassion and mercy and protector of women – symbol of Universal Love for all beings.  Her cup runneth over with love and mercy and compassion.

Kwan Yin, like the Virgin Mary or Guadalupe, is the mother of all, the female Buddha, the energy of the world that hears the plea of those in need and comes to their aid, whether they are sick or poor, or just having a hard time.  In these days of rising up against corporate greed and political corruption around the world, one needs to look to the mother goddesses to restore peace, harmony and love.

Kwan Yin is usually depicted holding pearls of wisdom and illumination in one of her hands and pouring a liquid with the other from a small vase to bless all with spiritual harmony and peace.  In her hands, which are usually cupped, she holds the universal feminine, the womb and the children that are desired.  In doing so, she is a goddess of motherhood and is the one to be looked at when fertility is an issue.  She sometimes is depicted holding a sheaf of rice or wheat, which is a metaphor for sustenance and abundance.  Sometimes she is accompanied by a dragon, which is a symbol of wisdom, strength, and the power of divine
transformation. A Divine Mother like Mary and Guadalupe, there are usually some children around her or being held by her.
