Every now and then, even the most naturally healthy and conscientious of us need a reward and I say “Go for a Devilishly Delicious Dessert!”

I’m serious – Don’t opt for nonfat yogurt, please.  Or a low-calorie tasteless hunk of cardboard.  No – not this time.  This time (and only this time) go for the absolute most extravagant, most sinful, best, most fabulous dessert!

AND SHARE IT WITH YOUR LOVED ONES.  If you are at a restaurant, and that’s where you should be celebrating your beauty and health – share one piece of cake among your friends.  Half, a quarter – or if you’re alone, take home part of it!

Research shows that it’s really the first bite of something that is the most satisfying.  So savor that first bite.  Look at the dessert.  Smell the dessert, Touch the dessert if you want to.

And then slowly, with careful deliberation, pick up your fork or spoon (because by this time the ice cream is probably melting on the molten cake!), and put a piece in your mouth.  Let it roll around gently, hitting all the surfaces of your mouth and tongue.  Savor it.  Taste what is known as “mouthfeel.”  And then bid this delicious morsel goodbye and swallow it.

This is known as Mindful Eating and it is a form of meditation.  The slower you eat, the more you will enjoy.  With each bite you take, do this simple exercise totally and fully with all of your attention on each sense.

And then don’t do it again for a few weeks!  Life is too short not to eat Dessert – Just Do It Right!  Eat dessert first sometimes.  Eat dessert sometimes.  You Deserve It!
