Y is for Yosemite – Real Natural Beauty

Yosemite in all its Natural Beauty - Ansel Adams

We can talk about natural health and we can talk about natural beauty, and we should.  But when we think about real natural beauty, Yosemite National Park has to be one of the   first things we think about!  I’m feeling a bit sad today because it’s been so many years since I was there, and now I want to go back!

John Muir, the California naturalist who explored Yosemite and discovered its natural wonder, said, “…No temple made with hands can compare with Yosemite. Every rock in its walls seems to glow with life…as if into this one mountain mansion Nature had gathered her choicest treasures…”

It’s hard to walk through this wonderland of mountains and rivers and forests and wildlife without contemplating the bigger picture, the possibility of divine creation.  No human could ever have fashioned this sacred space.  Whether in the winter with the magnificence of the snow-covered glaciers, or in the spring with gazillions of wildflowers and flowing waterfalls,  autumn colors of the trees, or rafting on the rivers in the summer – it’s a year round playground of natural beauty that belongs on everyone’s bucket list of places to see before you die!

  1. Of all the national parks I’ve been to, I’d have to say Yosemite has always been my favorite. Breathtaking, isn’t it?

    • It makes you stop and really appreciate the natural beauty around us. There are so many special places in the world, but Yosemite has to be right there on top! And yes, it takes your breath away!
