B is for Beer – a Boon for your natural Beauty

Beer is a Boon for natural Beauty

It’s Superbowl week and a lot of thought is being given to beer.  We here at Natural Beauty and Health for Women are thinking about beer also, but not pouring it down our throats, but pouring it on our heads.

Rinsing your hair with beer is a great way to get rich of excess oil that dulls your hair.  Beer will also make your hair shiny while adding volume and body.

Beer works well as a hair rinse because of the proteins found in the malt and hops, which serve to rebuild and repair hair damage.  The vitamin B and natural sugars in the beer add shine and body.   Flat beer works best to rinse hair, and it helps not to have too strong an odor (it’s not so naturally beautiful to walk around smelling like a brewery – except maybe in the Pacific Northwest!).  Shampoo and rinse out your hair as usual.  Pour the warm flat beer on your head and massage it into your hair.  Rinse with warm water and get ready for shiny, lustrous locks.

Hollywood celebrities, when they’re not drinking it, applaud the benefits of beer for shiny, silky hair.  Catherine Zeta-Jones says that she washes her hair in a  mixture of beer and honey.

For a beautifying beer hair rinse,  combine 1 ounce of water, 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar see previous post V is for Vinegar – ACV for Natural Health), 1 ounce of flat beer, and 5 drops of your favorite essential oil. Rub the mixture throughout hair. Rinse with warm water to remove stubborn buildup and enhance shine.

Jojoba Oil is a rich moisturizing natural oil and added to beer will provide luster and luxuriousness.   Add one teaspoon of jojoba oil to one cup of warm, flat beer and after shampooing and rinsing, pour it on your head and work it.  Rinse with warm water for a Beautiful Boost of Natural Beauty for your Bangs (and the rest of your hair!).
