A is for Angelina Jolie – Absolutely Amazing even without makeup!

Angelina Jolie without Makeup - Still a Natural Beauty

Angelina Jolie - With Makeup

I know we naturally beautiful women shouldn’t really care about whether or not Angelina Jolie wears makeup or is air-brushed in her new Louis Vuitton $10 million handbag ad.  But, come on, who are we kidding?  Which one of us would really, really not want to be as beautiful as Angelina?

I believe we should make conscious choices about our cosmetic choices and select products that do not harm the Earth or animals.  A few of these wonderfully ecologically safe and involved companies include – EO Products and Avalon Organics and EcoBella and  Eminence Organics.  These companies offer products that are environmentally safe, non toxic, are produced without GMO ingredients, are safe for people and the soil.  So I hope you choose to use these Earth-friendly products for your makeup!

And with these environmentally safe products, you too can look like Angelina Jolie.  Okay, who am I kidding?????  We can at least have a look that is taken from Angelina’s.

Angelina’s eye makeup starts with a shimmer of shade over her eyes and up to her brows.  This eye shadow is close to the skin tone with just a hint of glitter.  Then comes the eyeliner – Her beautiful eyes are lined with a technique called “tight-lining” to get the look of lush lashes and a natural appearance. Line the inner rims of your lashes rather than simply above and below the lashes. You can use a pencil, gel, or cake liner.

For lips – HA!  Unless you’re born with those huge, pouty lips or get a mouthful of filler (See F is for Facelift  Alternatives – Fill ‘Er Up with Filler) – you might not get the exact same look.  But apply nude lipstick and you can come close to it!

Her cheekbones may be high and elegant, but she also uses bronzes for contouring below the cheekbones, on the temples, at the hairline, and under the chin and then perks up her cheeks with a natural glow of blush!

To all you naturally beautiful women, especially you healthy senior women – know that you are gorgeous in your own right, and that Angelina will get old someday too!

P is for Penelope Cruz – without makeup

Penelope Cruz - Natural Beauty

It’s good for those of us who are naturally beautiful to see the difference between a gorgeous movie star with and without makeup, right?  Penelope kind of reminds me of what I looked like in the 60s without makeup.  And if we all had makeup artists and hair stylists and airbrush artists hanging around us 24 hours of every day, we could look like Penelope does on the right, right?

Penelope starts off with a lot going for her in the way of exotic Latin good looks and a long and lean body.  And even though she gets primped and pampered and very made up for her gigs as a Vogue cover girl or the face of Lancome Tresor, her home face looks like the one on the left most of the time.   “I always wear moisturizer and sunscreen. Aside from that, I don’t get too complicated. I think simple is best. When I’m not working, I don’t wear makeup. Maybe a little blush, mascara. Your skin needs to breathe.”

Like I told you before, natural beauty takes only a little mascara, a little blush, and a little lipstick – that’s all Penelope uses — so I guess if you use that too, you could look like her.  Right?

P is for Perfume – Powerful Pocket liners for celebrities

Perfume

Perfume is a multi-billion dollar industry all over the world.  The “scent of a woman” makes cash registers ring constantly and it seems that everyone who’s anyone wants their hand in the industry and the cash in their pockets.

Last year, Elizabeth Arden sold $54 million worth of White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor, a scent that has been in the marketplace since 1991.  Not every celebrity is as famous as Liz, but there are a lot of perfumes making millions solely on the endorsement of the celebrity name attached.

According to Forbes, the top-selling celebrity perfumes for 2010 were:

White Diamonds – $54 million (Liz might be gone, but her smell lingers on)

Driven by Derek Jeter – $27 million (men buy most of the perfumes, even though women wear them)

Heat by Beyoncé – $12 million (if we can smell like her, maybe we can look and sing like her)

Coming in tied in 4th place are 4 celebrity scents – Unforgivable by P. Diddy, NYC by Sarah Jessica Parker, Fancy by Jessica Simpson and Harajuku Lovers by Gwen Stefani.

Other celebrities making the best-selling celebrity perfume list last year (and brought in $215 million in the US alone) were Kylie Minogue, Kate Moss, Paris Hilton, Avril Lavigne and Celine Dion.

A celebrity scent seems to sell based solely on the name and celebrities are hot to add their names to the scents – because it adds up to a lot of cents for them  Celebrities are paid between 2 and 6 percent of sales – Beyoncé’s Heat sold $3 million in its first month’s launch at Macy’s!!!!

I is for Iman – Impossibly Gorgeous!

Iman the supermodel

Do you sometimes feel that some people got everything, and the rest of us got the short end of the stick?  The leftovers?  Is Iman the one with all the luck – or are Iman and the other supermodels the product of makeup, hair stylists, airbrushing, technology, enhancements?????

Iman with no makeup

Okay, let’s get real.  Here’s a picture of Iman, the supermodel without makeup.  Not bad for a 55-year-old (yes, Iman is one of us healthy senior women) – but certainly not supermodel-quality in her everyday life.

We all need some help – maybe a little blush to make us look a little healthier.  Maybe some mascara to plump up those wispy eyelashes.  Maybe even a little touch up to your roots to make you look a little younger.

It’s okay to get help.  Being a natural beauty doesn’t mean that you can’t reach for some makeup to enhance your beauty.  We hope that you will reach for responsible products that are also designed to improve and maintain your natural health.

But look at these pictures of Iman, an impossibly gorgeous supermodel — and be realistic.  Sometimes we all need a little help to look our best – even the most naturally beautiful women!

H is for Heidi Klum – Natural Beauty without Makeup

Heidi is a Natural Beauty

She’s beautiful, she’s popular, she’s married to Seal, she’s got a lot of kids and a television show (Project Runway), and look at her up there in the picture – She’s got no makeup on!  And she’s beautiful, isn’t she?

Okay, so Heidi is beautiful without makeup.  Are you?  I think I look pretty good without makeup, but the truth is – a little enhancement never hurts.  I believe we should use whatever is available – to a certain extent.  It’s good to pay attention to what’s in your cosmetics – Propylene Glycol?  The Material Safety Data Sheet warns users to “avoid skin contact with propylene glycol as this strong skin irritant can cause liver abnormalities and kidney damage.”

Propylene glycol is used in such things as makeup, shampoo, deodorant, baby powder, mascara – can you possibly use it and avoid skin contact?

You can be a beautiful, naturally healthy woman without makeup – and you can be a naturally beautiful woman with makeup that doesn’t harm you.  You make the choice!
