For those of you who are the popular blonde babes that we talked about before (see previous post B is for Bundchen the Blonde Bombshell), you can keep your hair looking light and bright by using chamomile flowers in a hair rinse.
To make a great hair rinse, get some dried chamomile flowers (available in natural foods or crafts stores) and some lemongrass. The chamomile will add shine to the hair, while the essential oils in the lemongrass will coat and protect the hair.
Boil 6 cups water and add 2 tablespoons loose chamomile tea and
2 tablespoons loose lemongrass tea (you can also add some nice smelling essential oils – like lemongrass). Cover and simmer for about 10 minutes. Strain and cool and then pour the cooled mixture into a spray bottle. Keep refrigerated.
Next time you shower and wash your hair, spray your blonde locks with the chamomile mixture and your hair will be shiny, golden and silky. To increase the golden glow, go out in the sunshine and your hair will lighten and brighten even more!
Another great chamomile rinse for your blonde hair is an infused Chamomile Vinegar, using one of our favorite natural health ingredients, Apple Cider Vinegar (see V is for Vinegar – ACV for Natural Health).
- Approx 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons dried chamomile flowers
- Peel from 1 lemon
- 20 drops chamomile essential (optional)
Mix the chamomile flowers and lemon peel in a clean glass jar, and cover with the vinegar so that the flowers and peel are covered completely. Leave in a warm dark place for about 2 weeks, giving a gentle shake daily. Rinse as directed for the first recipe!
