W is for Weight Loss – Wonderful Ways to Win!

Winning at weight loss is possible if you follow a few simple rules!

  •  Water – drink lots of it! – Drinking plenty of good fresh water is one of the most important keys to natural health.  Water in will help with weight out  by moving everything along.  It will also keep you feeling fuller longer.  Please see D is for Drink Water – How Much is Enough
  • Don’t just sit there doing nothing – get up off your chair and move – less calories coming in and more calories burning off is how you lose weight! Get up and dance.  Learn a new sport.  Walk around the block.  Just do something, anything that requires movement.
  • Don’t starve yourself – Keep your body filled up with nutrition and energy from the time you get up until you’re ready to wind down at night You can’t be naturally healthy when you’re tired and drained from starving yourself .
  • Don’t rush, eat mindfully – Make eating a meditation of nutrition and natural health.  Pay attention to each bite and savor every morsel (see )
  • Don’t give up – Like the little engine that could, so can you.  Just keep on keeping on and you will see results.  If you fall off the weight wagon, pick yourself, dust yourself off and start all over again!
  •  ·  Don’t follow fad diets – Eating grapefruit or hot dogs only may make a dent on the scale, but it will make a dent in your natural health also.  Don’t be a follower, be a trend setter and eat healthy to lose weight.
  •  Don’t eat when you’re bored (or tired or angry or anything but hungry!)– Mindless eating is still eating!  Eating a bag of chips without thinking does count.  Fill your life with meaning and purpose, instead of just filling your mouth with needless food.
  • Do pay attention to the size of your portions – Quantity does matter, even if it’s something called “diet food” !   See previous post – Pay Attention to the Plate!
  • Do eat those healthy fruits and vegetables –  Fruits and vegetables really are good for you.  They are full of everything you need to be naturally healthy – vitamins, minerals, fiber.  And when you’re naturally healthy, you’re naturally beautiful!

D is for Dieting – 10 Do’s and Don’ts

#1 – Do Eat Breakfast – Get up in the morning and get a good start!  Greet the day with some nutrition to keep you going great all day long.  Naturally Beautiful Women eat like a Queen at breakfast, a Princess at lunch, and a Pauper at dinner.

#2 – Do Eat Your Fruits and Vegetables - Your body craves real food like fruits and vegetables full of nutrition.  Don’t substitute healthy food with “diet foods” full of chemicals and salt.  Eating real food will not only nourish you, it will keep you on the right track with healthy habits for a lifetime of naturally healthy weight.

#3 – Do Drink Lots of Water – Your body is mostly water and we need to keep it filled up to the brim.  Water makes everything flow smoothly, in, out and through.  Drinking water will make you feel full and will flush everything out to help you lose weight and have beautiful skin and hair.

#4 – Don’t Just Sit There – Do Get Up and MoveGet up and take a walk.  NOW!  Don’t think of it as exercise, think of it as life. Moving improves your mood.  Moving will help you sleep. Moving will increase your energy level. Moving can improve your sex life.  Exercise doesn’t have to be hard, it can be fun.  And exercise can help you lose weight!

#5 – Do Learn Portion Control – - Size Does Matter when it comes to dieting!  A proper portion of meat, poultry or fish is the size of a deck of playing cards ((3 ounces).  Fruit, vegetables, pasta or grains – Half a baseball = one serving (one-half cup).  A Serving of cheese is the size of your thumb (one ounce).  One serving (one cup) of yogurt or chopped fresh greens is like holding a tennis ball in the palm of your hand.

#6 – Do Eat When You’re Hungry!   Don’t eat when you’re bored, tired, working, angry, or watching TV!  Eat to nourish your body, not as a substitute for anything else.

#7 – Do Eat Sensibly – Don’t Follow Fad Diets – If you eat only grapefruit or hot dogs for a week, I guarantee you’ll lose weight.  And I also guarantee you’ll gain it back immediately – and then some.  Eat for a lifetime, not for a momentary decrease of a number on a scale.

#8 – Don’t Rush!  Do eat mindfully.  Take pleasure in what you’re putting into your body to nourish and sustain it.  Make eating a passionate adventure. Eat until you are satisfied and when you are finished, stop and reflect on the experience.  Then go on to do something else besides eating!

#9 – Do Eat Good Fats – Don’t neglect the need to eat all good foods, including the good fats.  Fats nourish your brain and flavor to your food to make you feel fuller (See previous post on C is for Coconut Oil – King of Fats).

#10 – Don’t Give Up!  Made a “mistake?”  So what?  You’re only human.  Today is a new day and you have these 24 hours to do things right.  As Eleanor Roosevelt so wisely put it, “”Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why we call it ‘The Present’.”  DO give yourself the present today of being kind to yourself and begin your journey to natural health and natural beauty.

D is for 10 Dieting Do’s and Dont’s

Dieting for Natural Health

OK – You’ve decided that you need to diet.  So go ahead and do it.  But do it sensibly.  Do it right.  Do it so that you maintain your natural health, because no matter what the number on the scale says, or the size on the back of your pants, if you’re not healthy it doesn’t matter!

If you’re ready to take the plunge and see the numbers plunge downward to a healthy weight, then follow these steps to sensible dieting:

  1. Drink lots of water – Drinking adequate water is the key to natural health.  It will also keep you full and flowing.  Please see D is for Drink Water – How Much is Enough
  2. Don’t starve yourself – You can’t be healthy when you’re tired and drained from not eating enough.  Keep your body fueled from the time you get up until you’re ready to relax and wind down at night.
  3. Don’t rush, eat mindfully – Savor each bite with all of your senses and you will see that you eat less (see M is for Mindful Eating)
  4. Don’t just sit there – do move – Losing weight means calories in and calories out by burning them up.  In order to lose it successfully, you need more of the latter and less of the former!
  5. Don’t give up – You can do it.  Just keep on going.  If you made a mistake and fell off the weight wagon yesterday, just get back up and make today a good day!
  6. Don’t follow fad diets – Eating sensibly is the way to be naturally healthy and maintain a healthy weight.  Don’t follow trends, be a trend setter by eating nutritionally sound foods.
  7. Don’t eat when you’re bored – Mindless eating does count!  Eating a bag of chips without thinking does count.  Sometimes eating is just a way to fill a hole that would rather be filled with love and passion and life.  Write in your journal if you’re bored, instead of just stuffing food into your mouth.
  8. Do pay attention to portion size – Size does matter, even if it’s diet food! Pay Attention to the Plate!
  9. Do eat your fruits and vegetables – Your mother was right.  Fruits and vegetables are good for you.  They are full of vitamins, minerals, fiber.  They’re pretty and they’ll keep you satisfied and healthy!
  10. Do eat good fats – Fats are necessary to nourish your brain.  Good fats are necessary to keep you healthy.  Avoid the bad ones.  Eat the goods ones – like coconut oil.

Weight loss is possible!  Ideal weight can be reached!  You can pay attention to how much you weigh and pay attention to your natural health at the same time!

I know you can Do it!

D is for Diet – 10 Steps to Doing It!

Dieting - 10 Steps to Natural Health

Dieting is one of those things we wish we never had to do again, so maybe this time we’ll get it right if we follow these ten steps:

1.  Don’t Starve Yourself.  You have to nourish your body with the right amount of food.  Too little and your body will think it’s starving and will hang on to all you have so that you don’t die!

2.  Do Eat Your Fruits.  Fruits are full of nutrients and water.  The colors of food are proof of their anti-oxidant properties.  Eat fruits to fill up with natural health.

3.  Drink Lots of Water.  Water flushes out the toxins in your body and makes weight loss fast!

4.  Don’t Follow Fad Diets.  Eating grapefruits all day or hot dogs all day, or just protein and no vegetables or complex whole grain carbs will set you up for failure faster and faster weight gain in the future.  Learn how to eat sensibly once and for all!  I recommend Weight Watchers for sensible, slow and steady long-term weight loss.

5.  Don’t Just Sit There, Move Your Body!  Get up and dance your ass off!

6.  Size Does Matter.  Eat the Right Size Portions.

7.  Do Eat Good Fats.  Fats nourish your brain and make you feel like you’re full.  Eat the goods ones that have Omega 3 essential fatty acids like Extra Virgin Olive Oil!

8.  Don’t Rush, Eat Your Food with Mindfulness.  Slow down, what’s your hurry?

9.  Don’t Eat When You’re Bored, Angry or Tired.  Don’t fill up an emotional hole with food, it won’t help you mentally or physically.

10.  Don’t Give Up!  Whatever you do, know that you will succeed if you keep on keeping on!
