You may be 70, but you want to look 50?  You may be 50, but you want to look 30?  Well – if that’s what you want, then you can!  All it takes is attention to your natural health and to your natural beauty, and that’s what we’re here to help you do!

All of the basics that we’ve talked about before are the ones that will keep your skin looking beautiful and young.  Eating a healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables is the first step.  Some of the foods that really help to keep you looking like a “babe” are berries, tea, kiwis, avocados, carrots and other red vegetables like tomatoes, and my favorite of all – dark chocolate!

And drinking lots and lots of water to keep your whole body, including your beautiful face, is the next one.  (see previous post – D is for Drinking Water – #1 Key to Natural Health).

Keeping your skin clean is important to a youthful look.  Make sure you remove your makeup before you go to bed, no matter how tired you may be.  If you leave it on overnight, your pores will get clogged, and your face will look dry and old!

Avoid too much exposure to the sun if you want to look perky and pretty.  Too much sun is no good for your whole body, but it really wreaks havoc on your face and your neck.

Moisturize, moisturize and moisturize – every day, every night.  Use a homemade cream with Vitamin E which acts as a preservative for the cream and for your skin!

2 tsp. plain yogurt
1/2 tsp. honey
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
3 capsules vitamin E  (equivalent of 300 units)

Combine yogurt, honey and lemon juice. Open up the vitamin E capsules and mix the contents into the  other ingredients. Gently massage into skin using upward circular strokes.  Leave on skin for 15 minutes.  Rinse with warm water.  Apply your favorite natural moisturizer.

We continue on with Ways to Win Your Weight Loss Wish!

4.  Drink Water.  I’ll say it again, drink more water.  Water will fill you up.  Water will help what goes in to come back out.  Water will keep your skin and your hair luxurious and moist.  Money might be the root of evil, but water is the root of natural health.  I can’t say it too many times – so read my previous posts – D is for Drink Water.

5.  Learn how to eat sensibly for the rest of your life.  Fad diets don’t work.  The pure boredom of eating uninteresting foods day in and day out will drive you to the ice cream store for a double dip super-duper deluxe size ice cream binge.  You might lose a pound or two eating only grapefruit or whatever for a week, but this is not the way to learn how to maintain your ideal weight.  And that’s really the goal.  Not just to drop a number down on a scale, but to improve your natural health by weighing what you should.

6.  Move your body.  Get up and dance.  Learn a new sport.  Walk around the block.  Just do something.  You’ll never lose weight  or be healthy if you just sit in one place – so add some steps to your life.  You’ll not only lose some weight, you’ll feel better and when you feel better, your natural beauty soars!

7.  Buy a 9″ plate and eat off of it.  Size does matter.  If you put food on a big plate, you’ll eat a big meal.  You can fool the eye by eating off a smaller plate – it will seem like you’ve eaten more.  And portion control is key to losing weight!  (see previous post - P is for Portion – Pay Attention to the Plate.)

I is for Ice and Why I don’t LIke It!

Ice Cubes - Good for Natural Health?

I don’t like anything cold, including cold drinks and cold weather.  It’s been challenging asking servers not to put ice in my drinks, but now I see that other people are finally doing it also!  British people  have been drinking room temperature beverages forever all around the Colonial world, and it just might be time for the rest of the world to adopt this thirst-quenching habit!

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)  the digestive process is easier when foods are warm or cooked.  Eating foods that are closer to your body’s internal temperature of around 100 degrees F. enables you to process the food better and absorb more of the nutrients.  When you eat or drink foods and beverages that are ice cold or raw, the digestive system has to work harder to process it, and that can be harmful to your natural health (according to some, but certainly not to the trendy raw foodistas!).

Drinking ice-cold beverages can slow down the thirst-quenching effect and not hydrate you as much as warmer beverages might, as ice can numb your mouth and your sense of quench!

For those of us who are interested in doing everything we can for our natural health, hydrating our innards with water is one of the very best things we can do.  (See previous post – D is for Drink Water – #1 Key to Natural Health).   So any way to get more water into our bodies is important.  Warmer water goes down easier and has more taste than ice-cold water, so give it a try – it’s nICE!
