Y is for Yeast Infections – Natural Remedies for You

Echinacea - Natural Health Remedy

A woman would be wise to avoid certain foods when she is experiencing the signs and symptoms of a vaginal (or other place) yeast infection.  These foods include anything with sugar as yeast will thrive on it.  Sugar includes fruit and wine (oh no!) and other alcohol.  Anything containing yeast or mold needs to be avoided also – mushrooms, blue cheeses, processed meats.  Peanuts and coffee should not be eaten or drunk as they grow mold on them often.

So what’s woman to do?  Build up her immune system to protect her from yeast infections and other diseases by drinking some echinacea tea.  The purple cone flower pictured above is echinacea and it is so important to our natural health.  It boosts the immune system and detoxifies the body.  It wards away infections and prevents us from getting colds.

Our natural health and natural beauty friend, yogurt,  will not only keep your hair and skin looking beautiful, it will also help you to get rid of nasty yeast lurking in your body.  Yogurt contains the beneficial bacteria acidophilus which has been shown to control candida by making the intestinal tract more acidic, thereby discouraging the growth of candida, and by helping the body to produce  hydrogen peroxide, which directly kills candida. The beneficial bacteria found in yogurt or supplemented by taking probiotic pills can also help to restore the microbial balance within the digestive tract.

Lemongrass, my favorite smell and flavor, helps to restore healthy levels of friendly bacteria to the body – as do marigolds and calendula and the wonderful Kombucha mushroom.  Pau d’arco, a South American herb, is one of the most helpful natural remedies for overcoming candida and other yeast infections.

Echinacea - Great for Natural Health

Echinacea, or purple cone flower, is one of the common herbal remedies that we have heard so much about in the past few years.

The use of echinacea to reduce the effects of the common cold or help with respiratory ailments such as bronchitis has become so widely accepted as to acknowledged by the mainstream.  So echinacea can be purchased in the form of cold tablets in the pharmacy or tea bags in the grocery store. According to the Mayo Clinic, “Echinacea is one of the best-selling herbal products in the U.S.”

The immune-boosting properties in Echinacea have been found to be particularly helpful in fighting upper respiratory infections, such as nasal congestion, sore throat, and other  infections. It also benefits the blood stream by filtering the blood and getting rid of toxins  and has become known as one of the finest blood purifiers.

Echinacea makes a beautiful addition to your natural garden as it has large imposing purple coneflowers.  It also makes a fabulous addition to your natural health first aid kit for its health-promoting and immune-boosting properties.
