Exfoliate for Natural Health and Natural Beauty

The largest organ of the body is the skin and it is out there all the time getting assaulted by every kind of pollution and contamination swirling around in the air.  As a naturally beautiful woman concerned with her natural health and natural beauty, you want to be sure to take care of your precious skin.

Old dead skin makes you look old and on your way to death – dear me!  It pays to get rid of that top layer of dirt every once in a while by gently exfoliating with some natural homemade scrubs.

A very simple scrub can be made with about ½ cup of raw or brown sugar and some grapeseed or sweet almond oil mixed in to make a gritty paste.  Mix this all together and spread it over your face and body, using circular motions to gently exfoliate.  The grit of the sugar will get in and unclog your pores and remove dirt and prevent blemishes.  Rinse everything off in a warm shower, taking care with the sugary slush on a slippery floor!  If you do this body exfoliation once or twice a month, your skin will be fresh and dirt free and radiate luxurious natural health!

For variety you can use another sweetener – honey mixed with some oatmeal and a bit of apple cider vinegar (seeV is for Vinegar = ACV for Natural Health).  Form a smooth paste, adding honey as needed.  You can add a drop of rosemary or basil essential oil for an exhilarating pick me up.  Follow the instructions above for a total body scrub.

Avocado is a delicious addition to your exfoliation mixture that will moisturize and nourish your skin.  To any of the scrubs, you can add some essential oils for extra vitality and scent – cinnamon and ginger for a spicy mix, or lavender or rose for fabulous femininity.

When you’re looking for a great gift for your girlfriends or your grandmothers, put any of these blends into a clean glass jar and wrap it all up with a bow.  Excellent for Every Occasion!

A is for Apples — An Amazing Answer for Natural Beauty & Health

Apples are Great for Natural Health and Natural Beauty

An apple a day can keep the doctor away, right?  But did you know that an apple is great for your complexion?  Just like the most expensive spa products for exfoliating your skin and those wonderful spa facials, the alpha-hydroxy fruit acids (AHA) in apples are great for gently peeling away flaky old and dead skin and leaving your face looking naturally beautiful, healthy, fresh and bright.

For an easy and frugal way to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, grate an apple and apply to clean skin.  Leave the pulp on for 10 to 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Apples are fabulous anti-oxidants.  What is an antioxidant?  First, let’s look at what is oxidation.

Take our friend the apple and cut it in half.  Let it sit for just a minute or two.  Can you see  how it’s turning brown?  That’s oxidation.  When an apple turns brown,  it becomes diseased and decayed, just like a car does when it rusts or a person does when they are ill.

The skin of the apple prevents it from oxidizing by acting as an antioxidant.  So eat the skin! And then eat the rest of the apple to get all the vitamins in it.  Vitamin C to prevent colds,  Vitamin B-6 for healthy brains and less stress, Vitamin E for anti-aging, Pantothenic acid for reducing stress, Niacin for lowering cholesterol, Vitamin A for healthy skin and hair, and Folic Acid for more energy and a healthy immune system.

You can grate an apple and mix it up with some honey for a great facial mask.  Or try any one of these recipes, mixing apples with cucumbers:

CUCUMBER APPLE MASK – This combination of healthy fruits and vegetables will add a little gentle exfoliation to your treatment.  Put half a cucumber and half an apple into the blender with a teaspoon of honey.  Blend and apply to face, avoiding the eye area.  Leave it on for 15 minutes, then rinse off with cool water and enjoy the refreshed feeling.

S is for Save your Skin! 5 Simple Steps

Skin Care for Natural Beauty

All you naturally beautiful women, save your skin!!!!!  It may sound simplistic, but it’s all you’ve got.  I know many women who don’t do even the basics and then wonder why they’re not sexy at sixty.  It doesn’t take too much effort to take care of your skin so that it stays glowing and gorgeous.

Here are five simple steps to take to save your skin!

1.  Clean it every day.  How many of us are guilty of going to bed with our makeup still on?  All that sticky old makeup and the pollution and grime that we encounter every day has got to come off at the end of the day.  Otherwise you’ll clog up your pores and set yourself up for some nasty results.  (Too much washing will dry out your skin, so be careful)

2.  Moisturize.  We do a lot of recipes here for smooth, silky skin.  Put one of them on your face every day.

3.  Exfoliate.  Slough off the dead and ring in the new!  A simple solution of olive oil and sugar will work!  See E is for Exfoliation – the Natural Way.

4. Wear sunscreen.  Protect your face from the harmful rays of the sun.  There is a lot of research being done into safe sunscreen.  Read all about it here and make a wise decision about how to protect your skin.

5.  Eat healthy.  Drink plenty of water.  Eat a balanced diet with lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fiber.  Supplement what you can’t get from your diet.   You are what you eat.  Your face reflects your natural health from within.  Take care of your self, take care of your skin.  And you will be naturally beautiful and full of natural health!

S is for Sugar Scrubs for Smooth, Silky Skin

Sugar Scrubs for Natural Beauty

Sugar might not be so naturally healthy for you to eat, but it sure can work wonders to slough off the dead skin cells on your face.  And when you get rid of the flaky, dead stuff you can uncover the smoothest and softest skin around!

And right now, around the holidays, if you’re thinking about what to give your naturally beautiful women friends – mix up a batch of sugar scrubs, put them in a clean clear jar, and wrap it up with a ribbon.  All your healthy senior women and young beautiful friends will love you!

The basic ingredients for any sugar scrub are – well, sugar!  Brown sugar and white sugar combined make a great scrub, or just use one of them.  Add a little olive oil and honey and you’re good to go.  Here’s a recipe to get you started:

INGREDIENTS:

1 C. Dark Brown Sugar
1/2 C. Extra Virgin Olive Oil, can substitute Sweetened Almond Oil or Vegetable Oil
1 tsp. Vitamin E (cut open Vitamin E liquid gel caps – this acts as a preservative)
1 tsp. Pure Vanilla Extract , optional (or a nice feminine smelling essential oil)
1 TBL. honey (great for dry skin)

In a medium mixing bowl, combine EVOO oil, vitamin E and vanilla. Add the brown sugar and mix well.   Put it in that clean, clear container or Mason jar and wrap it up with a pretty bow!

Homemade Exfoliators for Natural Health

The skin you have on your body is a receptacle for everything the environment has to offer – and I don’t mean that in a good way!  Chemicals, auto exhaust, pollution, harmful UV rays that dry your skin – all of these settle on your face and your hands and your arms and your legs – and you really want to get them off of you every once in a while.

You can do this by making an exfoliating scrub out of household products that will gently peel away the damage done and get rid of old, dry skin – and leave you looking and feeling glowing and good!

A simple scrub is a combination of extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil, mixed with plain table sugar.  Just make a paste with enough oil to make it paste-like.  Apply the paste in circular motions all over your face, doing it gently enough so as not to harm you or hurt you.  Rinse it off with warm water, and use a toner and your favorite moisturizer to get a smooth, silky finish.

Another good facial exfoliator uses natural oatmeal combined with honey and 1/4 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, mixed until it forms a smooth paste. Add more honey as needed. Then add 1 drop of basil or rosemary essential oil to the mixture.  Apply as before.

You can also use a mashed avocado mixed with a little sweet almond oil and the same whole raw oatmeal.  This will leave your face feeling like you just came from a spa!
