Homemade Hair Products for Naturally Beautiful Hair

For a fantastic homemade hair conditioner that will detangle and make your hair shine, mayonnaise is a great conditioner, especially for dry hair.   Depending on the length of your hair, apply approximately 1/2 cup of mayonnaise to your dry hair. Work into hair really well and then cover your hair with a plastic bag, allowing to set for about 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and then shampoo as usual.

Hair Masks are wonderful for deep conditioning at least once a month and they, too, can come straight out of your kitchen.

DEEP CONDITION WITH OLIVE OIL AND HONEY AND ACV

Ingredients
1 tbl. Olive OiL
2 tbl. Honey
1 tbl. Apple cider vinegar

Method
Mix all the ingredients thoroughly and apply it to the hair and scalp. Use a wide toothed comb to comb through the hair and evenly spread the hair mask. Let it stay for an hour and then wash off with lukewarm water. This is one of the best home hair mask recipes.

Apple Cider Vinegar is one of the rinses you can put in your hair for a shiny, lustrous crowning glory of a head!  See previous post – V is for Vinegar – ACV for Natural Health!

H is for Hair that’s Dry – Natural Health Remedies

Dry Hair – That’s my problem.  Too much sun, too much heat, too many split ends, broken, damaged hair.

Don’t despair – we have natural beauty tips for dry hair that will leave you looking and feeling beautiful

Avocado – Mash up a ripe avocado and massage the pulp into your hair.  Cover with a shower cap and leave on for 20 minutes.  Or go to sleep with the shower cap on.  Shampoo with a gentle product and let your hair dry naturally.  Smooth!

Oils – Almond, Jojoba, Olive,  Shea — Any of these natural oils can be applied to your hair for 20 minutes (I like overnight) and washed out in the morning for lustrous, shiny locks.

Mayonnaise – works wonders for dry hair – with or without avocado mixed in.  Same procedure as above.

EGGS, OIL & VINEGAR DEEP CONDITIONING TREATMENT FOR DRY HAIR

3 eggs

2 TBL. healthy natural oil (see list above)

1 tsp. vinegar.

Mix together, massage into hair and comb through for even distribution.  Cover with a shower cap and leave on for 20 minutes.  Shampoo with gentle product.

Other tips for treating dry hair:

1.  Don’t wash too often.  Washing can dry hair.

2.  Look for products without Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Ammonium Laureth Sulfate.

3.  Go easy on using appliances for drying or straightening.  Every once in a while, let your hair dry naturally (you might even find a new look!)

4.  Have your split ends trimmed.  They tend to make your hair look drier.

5.  Don’t brush your hair while wet – use a wide toothed comb instead.

6.  Drink lots of water.  Dehydration is a common factor in dry hair.

7.  Eat lots of good healthy food rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants (hey, isn’t that the natural health cure for everything?!!!!)

Goldilocks, Goldilocks let down your hair!  Is your hair naturally healthy and worthy of Prince (or Princess) Charming?  Hair is our crowning glory.  It’s what’s on top.  It’s what people notice when they look at you.  When it shines and moves and looks beautiful, it’s a sign of natural beauty and natural health.

But hair problems are among the most common for naturally beautiful women (not so much for men, I think).   Long, silky tresses?  Short perky spikes? Naturally curly? Dry? Oily? Dandruff? Gray?

Damaged hair and unhealthy scalp are the result of many causes. Every day we are bombarded with ads and commercials telling us how to have perfect, beautiful hair — and so we go out and buy and try the shampoos and conditioners being sold, hoping to have that movie star quality hair in the commercials. We often choose a temporary look of styled “beauty”  that requires chemicals and processing over the natural health of our hair.

All the chemicals and processing in the world won’t give us healthy hair.  Naturally healthy hair starts inside with the food we eat, the water we drink, the vitamins we take, and the nutrition we provide our bodies. Taking care of ourselves always pays off in the end with natural beauty and health for our entire mind, spirit and body!
