J is for Jump, Jump, Jump for Joy

Jump, jump, jump for joy!  Jump for natural health!  Jump for long life and strong bones.  Jumping and other weight-bearing exercises will help you to preserve your bones and avoid osteoporosis.  Keeping still and sedentary promotes bone and muscle loss, while using your muscles builds new bones.  Rebounding, on a mini-trampoline, is the antidote to bone loss and the way to avoid breaking bones due to falls, and it’s the easy way to build muscle.

Mini-trampolines, also known as Rebounders, are great for year-round exercise.  Set up a mini-tramp in front of the TV and you can justify watching daytime TV, cause you’re not really watching that soap opera, you’re exercising your heart! You’re exercising your lungs and your lymphatic system.  You’re exercising your spine.  All in one easy exercise – jump – up and down and up and down.

The benefits of rebounding are many.  Rebounding not only works on the bones to reduce age-related degenerative diseases, it also helps to increase your breathing capacity and circulate more oxygen throughout your entire body.  Rebounding stimulates the production of red blood cells and improves the lymphatic system, thereby helping to increase blood flow to the veins. Improving the lymph systems also improves the whole immune system, thereby leading to less illness like colds and allergies.

Any kind of exercise will improve your chances to lose weight, and jumping stimulates metabolism which leads to even more weight loss. It stimulates the glands, especially the thyroid, which can lead to increased weight loss.  While you’re losing weight by jumping, you’ll also be lowering your bad cholesterol and triglycerides, while raising your good cholesterol levels.  Rebounding aids digestion and improves the elimination process, another way to lose weight!  For more info on getting a jump start on a weight loss programs, see previous post – J is for Jump Start your Wellness.

By improving muscle tone and building strong bones, rebounding relieves aches and pains in the neck and lower back, especially caused by a sedentary lifestyle.  Exercise can improve your mood, help you sleep and relax, reduce fatigue and menstrual discomfort in women.

If all of this hasn’t gotten you up off the chair and jumping up and down already – well, know that rebounding can keep you young!  And it’s so much fun you’ll want to do it every day.  And exercising every day will make you happy and joyful and naturally healthy and naturally beautiful!  So go ahead and jump for joy!

C is for Carbonation – Can Cause Complications

Carbonation - Not great for Natural Health

For many years, it was thought that the carbonation in water or soda caused an increase of calcium loss through urinary excretion of calcium.  A study done by the Osteoporosis Research Center at Creighton University found that this was not exactly true.  The carbonation only exacerbated the loss of calcium when it was in a beverage that was caffeinated.  Uncaffeinated drinks that are carbonated do not have the same effect.

So is it safe to consume carbonated beverages?  Not really.

Carbonation is the result of the addition of phosphoric and carbonic acid. The more acidic a body becomes (and the less alkaline), the more minerals are leached from the bones (calcium) and released into the blood or tissues to neutralize the pH.  An acidic body is more likely to result in inflammation which causes arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and a host of other complications.  So it is the acid, not the carbonation which causes the problems.

Carbonation has some serious effects on the digestive system.  It can lead to an increase in acid reflux, as well as increased gas and bloating.  For these reasons, people who suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or Gastroesophogeal Reflux Disease (GERD) or even the simpler symptoms of heartburn and nausea should stay away from carbonated drinks.

How much sugar is in Coca Cola??????

And of course, since we are all wanting to be naturally beautiful and maintain our natural health which includes optimum weight – any sugary sodas that are carbonated or not, should be abolished from your menu and your diet!!!

Jump for Joy and Natural Health

Jump for Joy!  Jump for Fun!  Jump for your Heart!  Jump for your Bones!  Jump!  Jump!  Jump!

Weight-bearing activities such as jumping, jogging, walking and weight training help to maintain bone density. A sedentary lifestyle promotes bone loss as well as muscle loss. On the other hand, using your muscles promotes the building of bone. Regular physical activity (such as rebounding on a mini-trampoline) strengthens the muscles and the bones, helps to slow down bone loss and lessens the risk of injury from falls.

A mini-trampoline is perfect for all-year round exercise.  You can do it in front of the TV while you’re watching Oprah or the news!  Just a few short minutes of rebounding (jumping on a mini-tramp) can strengthen your spine, get your lymphatic juices flowing, aid in digestion and elimination, and bring a smile to your face!

Rebounding is an exercise that is so enjoyable that you will continue to do it – and continual repeated exercise is what we’re looking for to improve our natural health.  So go ahead and JUMP FOR JOY!
