R is for Roses – Really Romantic Remedies

Red, Red Rose – the symbol of romance, of beauty and of love.   Romance – the allure of a loved one preparing a romantic night on a bed strewn with rose petals, or a warm bath with rose petals floating sensuously.  The natural beauty of the aromas of roses has been incorporated into the world’s best perfumes for generations.

Greek mythology gives us the story of the creation of the rose.  The Goddess of Flowers (Chloris) transformed a lifeless nymph into a flower, with the help of the other gods.  Beauty came from Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love.  The scent of sweetness was the blessing of Dionysus, God of Wine.  From the Three Graces – Aglaia (Splendor), Euphrosyne (Mirth), and Thalia (Good Cheer) – came joy, charm, and brightness.  The West Wind in the form of Zephyr breathed the clouds away and life into her as Apollo, God of the Sun, allowed the sun to shine on the flower and make her bloom as the Queen of all the Flowers.

For all of us naturally beautiful women (and you men, too!), the rose is an ingredient we can really enjoy for natural skin care and for natural health. Rose essential oil is extracted from the flower head of the plant.  Aromatherapy (see A is for Aromatherapy – More than a Pretty Smell) guides us to the head of a plant when we are looking for remedies for the emotions and the nervous system.  Roses are especially important in stress relief and relaxation.

For skin care, rose oil is used best topically.  Add about 8 drops of rose essential oil (the best comes from Bulgaria) to each 10 ml of carrier oil (I like jojoba or sweet almond oils) to make a nourishing, moisturizing and beautifying treatment for the skin.

Rosewater is effective for eye infections.  Ice creams from the Middle East are prepared with rosewater.  Rose hips are powerfully filled with Vitamin C.  Rose is a scent associated with women and femininity and so it follows that symptoms experienced by women like PMS or post menopausal distress will be helped by roses and rose oil.  Rose aroma is uplifting and can be used to balance the emotions and enhance self-esteem.

For pampering yourself or romancing a loved one, nothing does the trick like soaking in a bathtub filled with warm water and rose petals.  Sprinkle a tub-full of water with your (pesticide free please!) rose petals and lie back on a pillow as you breathe in the aromatherapeutic magic of love and relaxation.  For a little sensuality and romance you can add a half cup of coconut milk like Cleopatra’s famous milk baths.

And roses just smell good so they will make you feel good.  What could be better for a Naturally Beautiful Women!

F is for Flirting – Feel Free to have Fun!

Feel free to flirt – anytime, anywhere, with anyone.  You can flirt with the mailman or the grocery clerk, or you can flirt with someone you’d like to flirt back!  Flirting can be a way to attract the attention of another person, sure – but it can also be just a playful interlude in your day.  Flirting’s not only good for singles, but it’s great for keeping the love fires burning in a marriage or relationship.  Flirting takes a bit of practice, so start practicing now!

There’s a whole bunch of different ways to flirt.  You can bat your eyelashes, wink or giggle a lot.  You can run your fingers through your hair or place your hand on the other person’s arm lightly.  You can tease and tickle as things steam up.

There are a few standard suggestions for effective flirting.  Eye contact is perhaps the number one – look at the person, keep looking, maintain eye contact.  You can look away and then look back through your seductively lowered lashes.

Touching – not the other person, but yourself, is a way to flirt.  As I said before, running your fingers through your hair, or up your arm, signals availability to the other person.

Listening attentively is a sure-fire way to signal your interest in another person.  Stop talking and start listening!  Paying compliments can work also – but only if they’re sincere.  After all, who doesn’t like a good compliment?

Body language is key to flirting.  Resting your elbows on the table and leaning in when you talk or listen indicates interest.  And mirroring and duplicating the other person’s body language is a tried and true way of showing you are in-synch with another person.

Addressing the other person by name is a good flirting technique.  Everyone loves talking about themselves, hearing about themselves, and knowing that you’re interested in them.

The best way to flirt – SMILE!  The Law of Attraction really works.  Laugh and the world laughs with you.  Smile and chances are pretty strong that someone will smile back!

Here’s a list of 52 signs of flirting compiled by scientists at the University of Missouri:

T is for Tango – Too, Too Titillating!

There’s a whole lot of dancing going on these days – you can Dance with the Stars, maybe you even Think You Can Dance.  Or you just want to be gliding across the floor in the arms of your beloved.  Of all the dances that there are, I think the Tango is the sexiest and the sultriest and the most romantic.  Dancing the tango with someone you love is the ultimate in romance and beauty and the epitome of why we are all attracted to today’s popular ballroom dance.  The tango, coming to us straight from steamy Argentina, is a seductive form of dance that saturates the hearts and bodies not only of those couples dancing, but also of everyone watching.  The tango is like sex – sweaty, lustful, promiscuous exchanges between two partners with eyes only for one another.

The Tango is all about sex and romance.  It’s all about giving your partner your undivided attention with your eyes and your body.  You assure your dance partner that she or he is the most important person to you. On the dance floor this is played out by two dancers staring directly into one another’s eyes nose-to-nose.  While you are dancing together, you listen to each other’s bodies and adjust your movements to theirs, deliberately and slowly keeping your two bodies moving together and acting as not two, but one.

The tango is an intimate dance with intricate steps – your legs rub together as you walk as one in close embrace, each body leaning into the other with chests pressed together and sweat intermingling. Tango is like a bedroom conversation between two partners, two lovers.

As one tango master, Naomi Hotta, says, “Warning – Tango contains highly addictive ingredients, such as pain, pleasure, passion, excitement, connection, freedom, torment, bliss.  In seven out of ten cases, it takes over a person’s life.”

And if hot, steamy sex and romance isn’t enough to make you want to get up and dance, then check out my previous post about how dancing can help you lose weight – http://naturallybeautifulwomen.com/anti-aging/d-is-for-dance-your-ass-off-do-it-and-drop-it/.  Whatever your motivation might be – love or lose weight – Take the time to Tango!

R is for Red Red Wine – Really Romantic

Red Wine - Romantic for Naturally Beautiful Women

Naturally Beautiful Women of the World – here’s an old French saying for you -

“In water one sees one’s own face;
But in wine one beholds the heart of another.”

For those of you who do drink wine (and there’s nothing wrong with not drinking it), there is an added benefit – it’s sexy and romantic!!!  We’ve heard so much about the benefits of the moderate drinking of red wine – antioxidants which increase levels of good cholesterol and lower the incidence of heart disease.  Red wine may help you sleep, reduce the incidence of several types of cancer, aid your natural health by reducing inflammation and the diseases caused by it.

But right here and right now, I’m telling you that red wine is sexy for you!  Red wine causes the arteries to dilate and increases the flow of blood throughout the body, increasing in turn a woman’s sexual desires!!!!   In Italy, a study was done on almost 800 women between the ages of 18 and 50.  This study showed that drinking 1 to 2 glasses of red wine a day increased women’s sexual desires.  You know those Italians know their aphrodisiacs – and their wines.

I’m not saying if you don’t drink, you should run out and start right now.  For many, this is not an option.  And for those who drink too much, they will experience the opposite effect – falling asleep and snoring or getting drunk is not sexy at all!

But if you like a little red wine now and then, reach for the musky masculine scented ones as they mimic the aroma of male pheromones – and gentleman, that’s what starts a lot of ladies’ engines.  ROARRRRR!

R is for Romantic Movies

96,239,702 – that’s how many views this video has had!!!  The whole world loves a romantic movie!
It doesn’t make a difference if you are alone or with a beloved.  Sometimes you’re just in the mood for a sappy, dopey romantic flick to curl up and cuddle up with.  Sometimes you want a good laugh (Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn), or you want a good cry (Ghost), or even both.  And sometimes you just need to remember, be inspired, be entertained by love and romance and all that is just plain good in the world and in life.
My list of romantic movies would include the following -
AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER (my all-time favorite)
DIRTY DANCING
GHOST (funny how both of them star Patrick Swayze!)
SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE
OUT OF AFRICA
CASABLANCA
GONE WITH THE WIND
THE NOTEBOOK (voted the most romantic film by men!)
MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE (okay, anything by Nicholas Sparks)
SINGING IN THE RAIN (I love romantic dancing!)
CINEMA PARADISO
Do you love romantic movies?  Which ones make you tremble with excitement and appreciation of all things about love?
