V is for Viagra – the natural Variety for Virility

Natural Viagra for your man's Natural Health

Yes, yes, I know this is a blog about Natural Beauty and Natural Health for Women, but we women love our men (some do, some don’t actually) and some of their issues affect our lives and consequently, our natural health.

If your man is having a hard time – actually if your man is not having a hard time – then he might be looking to try something that will make life easier, or excuse me, harder.  Don’t let him reach for the little blue pill (Viagra) cause it’s got a ton of terrible side effects – Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; sudden decrease or loss of hearing; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; painful or prolonged erection; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue);  fainting; fast or irregular heartbeat; memory loss; numbness of an arm or leg; one-sided weakness; ringing in the ears; seizures; severe or persistent dizziness; severe or persistent vision changes; sudden decrease or loss of vision in one or both eyes; chest pain;.

That’s a turn off in itself!

So what’s a guy to do?  There are plenty of aphrodisiac foods you can try – at least it will make for a great meal.  There are oysters and caviar which are both high in zinc; chocolate for mood-lifting neurotransmitters like phenylethylamine and serotonin; asparagus and bananas for vitamins and minerals and the Law of Similars (note the similarities in shape); chili peppers for their “heat” and a little bit of champagne for the tickle!

W is for Watermelon – What a Wallop of Natural Health

Watermelon for Natural Health

Woo Hoo, Watermelon!  A tasty summer treat that’s packed with a wallop of wonderful natural health benefits.

First and foremost like all things for your natural health and beauty – watermelon is 92% water!  (SeeD is for Drink Water – How Much is Enough?).

Watermelon, like its pink and red sisters tomatoes and grapefruit, is full of lycopene, an anti-oxidant that protects the human heart, prostate and skin health.    Just one cup of this delicious, cool and thirst-quenching fruit  contains 25% of your daily value of vitamin C,  as well as thiamine, magnesium and potassium.  Also rich in the beta-carotene form of Vitamin A, watermelon can help to protect against macular degeneration, a leading cause of age-related blindness.

And as if that wasn’t enough reason to eat your watermelon this summer, Dr. Bhimu Patil of Texas A&M University has done research that points to another phyto-nutrient in watermelon, citrulline, being converted to the amino acid arginine and having an effect on the body of a man similar to that of Viagra!  “The citrulline-arginine relationship helps heart health, the immune system and may prove to be very helpful for those who suffer from obesity and type 2 diabetes,” said Patil. “Arginine boosts nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels, the same basic effect that Viagra has, to treat erectile dysfunction and maybe even prevent it.”

Wow!  Watermelon!
