Y is for Youthful You – You Want to look Young? You can! Naturally!

Natural Beauty and Youthful You

You may be 70, but you want to look 50?  You may be 50, but you want to look 30?  Well – if that’s what you want, then you can!  All it takes is attention to your natural health and to your natural beauty, and that’s what we’re here to help you do!

All of the basics that we’ve talked about before are the ones that will keep your skin looking beautiful and young.  Eating a healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables is the first step.  Some of the foods that really help to keep you looking like a “babe” are berries, tea, kiwis, avocados, carrots and other red vegetables like tomatoes, and my favorite of all – dark chocolate!

And drinking lots and lots of water to keep your whole body, including your beautiful face, is the next one.  (see previous post – D is for Drinking Water – #1 Key to Natural Health).

Keeping your skin clean is important to a youthful look.  Make sure you remove your makeup before you go to bed, no matter how tired you may be.  If you leave it on overnight, your pores will get clogged, and your face will look dry and old!

Avoid too much exposure to the sun if you want to look perky and pretty.  Too much sun is no good for your whole body, but it really wreaks havoc on your face and your neck.

Moisturize, moisturize and moisturize – every day, every night.  Use a homemade cream with Vitamin E which acts as a preservative for the cream and for your skin!

2 tsp. plain yogurt
1/2 tsp. honey
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
3 capsules vitamin E  (equivalent of 300 units)

Combine yogurt, honey and lemon juice. Open up the vitamin E capsules and mix the contents into the  other ingredients. Gently massage into skin using upward circular strokes.  Leave on skin for 15 minutes.  Rinse with warm water.  Apply your favorite natural moisturizer.

E is for Vitamin E – Extra protEction

Vitamin E for Natural Beauty

I’m a firm believer in taking vitamins – mostly as insurance against whatever might ail you or hurt you or make you any less naturally healthy and naturally beautiful than you possibly could be if you don’t take them.

One of the powerhouses of protection for your natural health and your natural beauty is Vitamin E.  Vitamin E protects you against some of the damages caused by the sun’s UV rays.  Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant and cuts down on the risk of some diseases like cardiovascular disease and asthma and arthritis and even some cancers.

Vitamin E packs a wallop of nutrition when it comes to skin care.  Think of this – if you want to extend the life of some of your oils, like olive, that might become rancid – all you have to do is add a capsule of Vitamin E and it will extend the shelf life.  If it can protect your oil from going bad, think about how it might protect you from some debilitating effects – or just think about its preservation of your skin by moisturizing and nourishing, and cutting down on the appearance of wrinkles!

Vitamin E has been used to help scar tissue heal faster and reduce the appearance of stretch marks.  Vitamin E helps to protect against skin cancer, as it protects the body from harmful effects of UV rays.

O is for Oranges on your Face

Oranges for Natural Beauty

Oranges are full of Vitamin C, a substance we naturally beautiful women should be eating lots of for the antioxidant benefits we all need — and putting it all over our faces for all that it can do for our natural beauty.

Vitamin C is the key to the production of collagen, the valuable  protein that gives skin its firmness and strength, and also aids in the growth of cells and blood vessels.

You can refresh and revitalize your tired skin while also adding valuable moisture by applying an Orange Yogurt Mask to your face.  You’ll need a TBL. of yogurt and the juice of 1/4 of a peeled orange.  Make a paste of these ingredients and smooth the mixture over your face (be careful to avoid the sensitive eye area).  You’ll feel immediately refreshed and cooled off (very helpful on these hot summer days).  Leave the mixture on for about 15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water.  Apply your favorite moisturizer and see how your skin glows with citrus freshness!

E is for Vitamin E – Important for Everyone

Vitamin E - Everywhere and Good for Everyone

Vitamin E is something every naturally beautiful woman wants to have enough of in her diet.  It’s an antioxidant known to reduce the consequences of aging – it helps to reduce the damage done to the skin by the sun, it protects the heart by improving the formation of red blood cells.  And it helps the body to use Vitamin K, the clotting vitamin.

A lack of Vitamin E can result in malabsorption of nutrients, leading to digestive problems.  Vitamin E can be found in many different food, including nuts and oils, like wheat-germ oil; almonds and hazelnuts; soybean oil; sunflower seeds and sunflower oil; peanuts, peanut butter and peanut oil; safflower oil; and corn oil. It can also be found in spinach, papayas, avocados, broccoli and brussel sprouts, collard and other leafy greens, kiwis, tomatoes and mangoes.

Vitamin E is especially important for natural beauty as it helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the skin when applied topically.  Every woman (and man) who wants to look naturally beautiful should eat foods rich in Vitamin E!  Yes!
