G is for Girlfriends Are Great!

Girlfriends are vital to our Natural Health

We dish the dirt and we dish up dinner.  We go dancing and we swap clothes (see N is for Naked Lady Parties).  We try on wigs and we go on trips.  We laugh, we cry, we give our love and we hold out hope.  We are girlfriends.

Research is now showing that it’s not just fun and games when it comes to having girlfriends – it’s actually a matter of life and death.  One research study found that people who had no friends had an increased risk of death over a 6-month period. Another one of these studies found that among  those who had the most friends over a 9-year period, they had cut their risk of death by more than 60%.

There are many other reasons why great girlfriends are groovy!  Girlfriends provide stress relief.   They are there for you to deflate the stress balloon that you’ve been carrying around since your boss yelled at you or your dog ate your homework.

It’s really more fun to do something with another person (bad news for us single folk).  It amplifies that amount of fun you can have when there’s someone there to share it with (as if we didn’t know that?????).

Having a girlfriend can give your confidence and self-esteem a great big boost!  And girlfriends teach you important lessons about love – the unconditional kind – and about sharing and caring and trusting.

And here’s a little song that says it all – thanks Divine Miss M
